MS Early Warning Signs
Multiple sclerosis, also known as MS, is an autoimmune disease that affects the body’s nervous system, brain, and spinal cord. Multiple sclerosis attacks bodily tissues and harms the myelin sheath, which serves as a protective coating to the brain and spinal cord. The disease has various symptoms, but the causes are generally unknown, and scientists believe that environmental factors and genetics may play roles in what may cause multiple sclerosis.
Early signs of MS include the following:
1. Vision complications
Complications and problems regarding vision are related to MS early warning signs. Multiple sclerosis causes inflammation, which, as a result, can cause damage to the optic nerve. Damage to the optic nerve can cause blurred vision and other adverse eye conditions.
2. Feelings of tingling and numbness
As a result of the effects that multiple sclerosis has on the brain and spinal cord, feelings of numbness and tingling are often associated with multiple sclerosis symptoms. These symptoms generally occur in the legs and arms, but feelings of tingling and numbness can also occur in the fingers and face.
3. Aches and discomfort
Muscle spasming and tightness is often related to the various symptoms regarding that of multiple sclerosis. These symptoms can happen in multiple parts of the human body, but generally, tightness and spasming occur in the legs. These symptoms can be painful and limit the patient’s mobility.
4. Exhaustion
According to studies, an exponentially large percentage of multiple sclerosis patients experience exhaustion, making it one of the most common multiple sclerosis symptoms. A patient’s functionality is severely limited due to fatigue and exhaustion symptoms related to multiple sclerosis.
5. Loss of strength
A common symptom of multiple sclerosis is that of feelings of weakness and loss of strength. Multiple sclerosis invades the myelin sheath, and as a result, muscle function and neurological functions are compromised. Additionally, loss of strength in the arms and legs results from a lessened activity because of the autoimmune disease. Physical therapy and treatment are avenues to take into consideration when managing symptoms.
6. Vertigo
Some patients who have multiple sclerosis experience dizziness and have trouble with balance. Conjunctionally, some added symptoms may include but are not limited to feelings of lightheadedness, as the patient’s equilibrium becomes compromised. The sensation of a room spinning is another symptom of multiple sclerosis.
7. Complications regarding bowel and bladder function
A common symptom often related to multiple sclerosis is complications regarding bladder functionality and bowel functionality. Many multiple sclerosis patients experience issues regarding frequent and infrequent urination. Conjunctionally, multiple sclerosis patients can experience constipation and diarrhea due to multiple sclerosis-related bowel dysfunction.
8. Cognitive complications
People who have multiple sclerosis can face challenges regarding cognition. Cognitive issues can consist of loss of memory and trouble speaking. Patients’ ability to pay attention for extended periods can also become compromised due to multiple sclerosis-related cognitive problems.
